Removing Tow Power Sockets

Hi,

I have two Tow Power sockets that are fixed to the rear of my 90.

All the bolts have rusted and will not unscrew. I want to remove them to put a NAS step on and I no longer need the Tow Power sockets. How do I remove these, can I cut the wires?

I wouldn't just cut them, every time you turn a light on, press the brake whatever you're going to have power on the end of a wire. If there's two then one likely contains a permanent live for split charging a caravan battery or keeping a fridge going. Best bet is trace them to wherever they're spliced in and cut as much as possible, then tape or heat shrink them so as to tidy it all up.

Above is the correct way to do it.
Just cut the wires and a bit of tape over each cut and then tape it all up is the other way. Disconnect battery first.

Look to see if you have your radio code before disconnecting battery

I don’t know what age yours is but Either way the towing electrics were additional wiring looms which should be able to be traced back and unplugged completely without having to cut and tape anything! If it is pre-td5 then the lighting plug will connect into the main loom in the drivers side rear light cover just inside the rear door.
If you trace the wores back it should be fairly obvious. The same goes for the caravan socket although that is a more involved circuit it is still seperate fromthe main loom and can be removed completely by unplugging and disconnecting it.
