Im not entirely sure but i think my fob is on the fritz. I have to push the button like 20 times to open and close the car. It could just be a simple battery replacement job.

If the fob dies, is it a case of bypass the immobiliser all together by following one of the guides on here?

If i bypass the immobiliser and have a dead fob, will i still have central locking and such?

Im not paying land rover a hefty sum to get a new fob. But i would like to be able to keep central locking in the least.

What options are available to me?

1 Use the temp access code untill you replace the battery or fob.
2 If you do have a dead fob you won't be able to remote set the alarm or c/lock the car even if you have bypassed the immobiliser and if you set the alarm with the key you must unset with the fob to stop the alarm activating. That would be for a 300 series disco with the two button fob system.
3 You don't have too there's a few companies on the www RemoteKey is one.

And it dosen't matter what engine you have Tdi or V8.

I've never had a fob on my 300tdi......immobiliser seems to be linked with the which direction I turn the key in the drivers lock when I 1st unlock the door...

If it didnt start, I simply cycled the door lock..

Everything was fine untill the central locking gave up the ghost, last time the motor went wading... :(

I will have a go at putting a new battery in, hopefully i can avoid all the nonsense of spider related issues and stuff. Plus it would be a bonus to have a car with a working alarm and immobiliser.

Where do i find the temp access code?

The engine immobilisation code or EKA code is a four digit code that is entered via the drivers door lock in six operations. The code would have come with the new vehicle along with the radio and locking wheel nut code.
If you dont have the EKA code then a LR main dealer can provide it for you.
Info on how to enter the code is in the owner's handbook.

It didn't leave the factory like, so what ever u have now is non-standard :(

I have tried re-programming 2 remotes on my 300tdi but it is a single button like the 200 tdi's one will programme but the battery dies after it's been used once and the other won't programme yet the one i use I can programme with no problems any ideas?
