Thought I would post the latest fabrication...removable NATO hitch :). Im sure you can probably buy something like it, but hey.

The idea is we have a Sankey trailer for bits and bobs, might be making it into an expedition trailer for the Range Rover...but for the twisty gnarly off road stuff having a hitch hanging below is not too great...hence making this up...

On the Rangie:

2 Pins and it's off:

Nice neat job! Just one thought though... doesn't the single top mounting point risk quite a strong chance of bending the top pin, cause it's unsupported along quite a bit of it's length, especially if the drawbar is bucking up/down over uneven ground?

thought the same, nice fab work

Thanks :)

Nah, that top pin wont bend I would put my money on that...not sure of the load of a 16mm bolt/pin but I am sure it would take quite some load.

16mm bolt pin? Is that the two pins holding it to the vehicle?

They aren't the biggest you can get but will take a fare bit of weight. I couldn't be arsed swapping the drawbar over to a hook on the tractor and I pulled 18 tonnes of silage, mind you was a bit bent afterwards.

something to do with the driver maybe?;):D:D

Yeah - the 2 pins - I seem to recall they are 16mm. The steel plate is 12mm and the pins are wider than that by a fair bit to give you an idea.

Yup, another will be made with a standard hitch. Or convert the other trailers to Sankey hitches!
