How can I tell if my FL2 2010 TD4 Auto has been remapped? (I have a Hawkeye) - it seems bloody quick and the fuel consumption on short trips is circa 20mpg - would it show up on fuel pressures or any thing like that?
 
Compare the max revs int say 2nd gear and 0-60mph eggscelleration to the spec sheet for your model year int sales catalogue.

To find out with the Hawkeye... Yer would need to compare live engine data ont yours to another with same engine/gearbox.
 
Yeah - I just paged through all the live data menu for the F2 TD4 and it's a bit sparse compared to what is read on the F1 TD4 or the F2 SD4 -(I saw your youtubes on the live data menus) - there is no fuel pressures indicated on the F2 TD4 unfortunately.(Hawkeye V8)
I was wondering whether to risk a Global ECU reset HS canbus and MS Canbus - but I don't know what it will do. - When I did a Global DTC clear both HS and MS there was a worrying moment when the car seemed completely dead - then it all came back up again after a couple of switch off/on etc
 
If you're going to delve deap into the electronics, then I suggest a better diagnostic tool than the Hawkeye. You'd be better off with the Gap Diagnostics IID, in BT form. This is designed for the vehicle and has software that is updated almost on a daily basis.

Hmm! ... maybe if I hit some big problems somewhere down the road - but for now - as a guy whose soldering iron needs a blowlamp to heat up the copper bit - and got lots of spanners and nuts'n'bolts but no little bag of spare electrons - I might go with "it ain't broke so don't fix it"
Might do an egr blank off - lose the swirl flaps/clean manifolds etc - when I change the fuel filter. For now I will just get used to how it performs to get a better idea of what difference - if any- that that stuff makes. I love it - goes like Sh!t off a shovel. 'er indoors loves it too - at least she's stopped stealing my F1 and leaving me with the Lightweight.

Unfortunately it dun't matter what yer buy for the FL2, they dun't fully cover the whole vehicle. Yer'll find it a bit hit and miss across different devices. FL2 has been out of production for 4 years which must play on the minds of device programmers and creaters. Problem is there's too many copying eggsisting products and knocking out copies on the cheap. That hampers return on investment so limits what originaters will invest to further a product. Yer can't blame them fer that but it limits what we Freelanderers can do. Not fair but how it is.

The FL2 does have a self heal ability which needs two drive cycles to bring some of it back to life. I've done a global DTC error code reset on one but never went any further with a module reset. Same as you... If it int broke leave it alone.

Yer have to remember the FL2 is a different beast to the FL1. The diesel engines are more powerful. The FL2 TD4 should hit 60mph in around 11 seconds. SD4 8.7s. It's not just 0-60mph which is faster. In gear eggscelleration 40 to 60 is much quicker anorl. The SD4 equals the 3.2 straight 6 ont performance but has much betterer fool economy. 3.2 is quieter but economy would make yer pick the SD4.

Mpg is based on how yer drive it. Lots of stop start city type driving will bring down the mpg. My mpg is always lower than others because of mainly driving ont residential roads and max 40mph ont A roads. Lots of traffic lights anorl.

Yer must be the only one who watches me diagnostic videos. They take a lot of time to film then edit to make them easier to follow. Some are many years old and viewing figures are low. The diag ones are done for comparison to help others. I use them anorl if a fault occurs. ;)

The Gap Diagnostics IID will cover every module on the FL2, and every function of those modules. It's far more advanced than the Hawkeye, which is just a good but expensive code reader.

The IID will allow full diagnostics and programming, software updates, including custom non LR software, CCF file modification Ipack modification and so on. It's a serious piece of kit, if only it covered the FL1 too.:(
