I have been toying with the idea of replacing my tired original side steps on my 110 with a one piece steel side step (over £200 for a good set?)
Having another look tonight I could take them off and straighten them, free them up and paint them for nothing. The rubber tread plate is shot on 2 of them and would need replacing to make a decent job.

Anyone know if you can get replacement rubber tread plates? I have had a look about but cant see anything.

Ironically I was toying with the idea of getting rid of all 5 on my 110 a few days ago.

Unfortunately I took some regular shooting buddies along to the local ground in it and they'd struggle without the steps. So liberal amounts of WD-40 to free them up and then at least most of the time I can now fold them up out of the way.

Happy I can free them up, a paint job will get them almost right.... just the rubber covers that need replacing is the main issue. Cant even get a britpart replacement...... just a thought... black chequer plating could be an option?

After a quick search all I can find is complete replacements (i.e. whole step), maybe worth dropping Paddock an email or phoning them to ask if they'd do just the rubbers or know where they can be sourced. Always been helpful in the past.

Have you got a quarry local to you? they tend to sell of HD rubber mats at reasonable rates, that you could easily shape and attach to your existing steps....

I London? ;) - I'm not the one actually after the steps but never mind... Any hardware place (thinking tractor dealership etc might be worth a shot as well)

For all the rubbers etc i usually just go to the dealer because they are pretty cheap and its a genuine part after all and that way it will still have the land rover logo on them

Hi,
I had the same problem.
I took mine off and dismantled them. They were then galvanised and powder coated black.
The nuts and bolts were cadmium plated and the springs replaced with stainless steel.
Replacement rubbers were purchased from Pegasus Parts (www.pegasusparts.co.uk) and I think they cost about £14 each.
The part number is MTC 3076. The rear step has a different part number but I don't have it to hand, but I'm sure they'll help you if you give them a call.
They turned out an excellent job......hope this helps.
