Evening guys,
have just tinted my rear windows (innit) so hopefully a little less is on display. Anywho, the rear quarter windows have the rubber with the sort of finishing bead that fits in to make everything tight after the window is back in. I basically had a go at fitting this back in with my fingers at 6am this morning and it was basically being a total git. I'm just about to go back out there and finish it, and wanted to ask quickly if there is a tool or any tips people can suggest for fitting them back in.....or should I stop being a girl :(

I did change the front and back windows on the mini, but can't remember for the life of me what I did with the chrome bead on that.

Cheers all

Get a length of para cord or similar and place it inside the seal where that glass fits. leaving a loop sticking out the bottom and the loose ends out the top and fit it to the opening. then put the glass in the rubber, as far as it will go. then start pulling the cord out of the rubber it will peel the rubber lip out over the glass, just keep pushing the glass into the seal as yu pull the cord out.

The seal manufacturers or distributors normally supply a small fitting tool, like a screwdriver handle, but with a wire 'diamond' shape that the insert passes through, you push the tool round which splays the seal out and the insert is pushed in and the seal closes up behind it. I had one somewhere, but dunno where it is right now, prolly in the shed!, and I can't remember where I got it from .. sorry .. ;)

When I needed an Alpine window fitting I sent the wife down to Autowindscreens with the new bit of glass. She fluttered her eyelashes a bit, and they did it for nothing.
