Not sure how to word this ^^^^^^.

Had a :google it: and a :search: and can't find a definitive answer, so here goes......

Does anyone know the difference between
AQF
ATF
TQF
??
They all seem to be automatic gearbox oils/ power steering fluids & are D2 or D3 compatible. But there must be some differences. What are they?

They are all ATF = auto trans fluid
AQF is a brand designation
COMMA
Approved for use in Borg Warner automatic transmissions and torque converters. Also suitable for Ford transmissions (including C.3. Bordeaux gear box) and certain hydraulic systems and power steering pumps requiring Ford type fluid. Service Classification: Ford M2C 33F/G

TQF is another brand desination

Castrol TQF

Anti-wear, automatic transmission fluid for Ford and Borg Warner applications where specified

HTSH

I thought one was a slipping oil and one was a friction oil we have always used ATF in our puma forklift torq converter since using comma AQF we have had trouble with it slipping !!
Beware we are still in talks with comma as they are saying its the same as ATF .

But in saying that I have just noticed on my 20l red oil its called planet
AQM in small writing it does say for use with TQ,s using dextron II that is ATF also

I need to read the liable on the AQF as I haven't seen the label as of yet.

And this confirms comma balls up early ford didn't need the anti slipping formula
And they are selling this for all ATF applications :rolleyes:
All ATFs contain friction modifiers, except for those ATFs specified for some Ford transmissions and the John Deere J-21A specification;[5] the Ford ESP (or ESW) - M2C-33 F specification Type F ATF (Ford-O-Matic) and Ford ESP (or ESW) - M2C-33 G specification Type G ATF (1980s Ford Europe and Japan)[6] specifically excludes the addition of friction modifiers

@The Mad Hat Man

Apologies for dragging up such an old thread, but I've just bought 5l of AQF for my r380, it was £7 cheaper than the MTF, and I've been using ATF for the last few changes as my synchros are a bit worn and I just wondered if you did use it in yours in the end and wondered how you got on with it? Many thanks

Hi mate! Its still in its bottle in the footwell of the 90 atm! Will be doing it on the weekend, but having got home panicked slightly hence the questions....I've started a thread to see if anyone else has used it at all. Mind you, my box is a bit worn and I change the oil regularly so keen to see if there is a noticeable difference, will keep you updated!!
