My 1993 3.9 litre engine has a crack in one of its cylinders. I'm considering replacing it with a reconditioned unit from ultimategowns uk aka V&J Engineering (item 280041255358 on eBay) for £1000. Turner, who have been recommended elsewhere on this forum, charge about twice this figure. Has anybody got any experience with this company or are you able to recommend any reputable alternstives? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I will be ordering a 4.6 next week from Turners, have used them before - excellent company, excellent product. As for the V+J engine I notice they dont even fit new pistons.I cannot afford to fit substandard parts to my customers cars,if I cant do it to my spec then I dont do the job.
The engine I will be ordering will be fitted with ductile iron top hat liners, giving the head gaskets something to seal against. The car is fitted with a sequential LPG system which works properly, but even so I wont take any chances.
Pay your money,take your chances......

Your comments are an great help. My garage have discussed liners with me because my RR has LPG and at the moment the engine has very fine hair line cracks in it so it might be Turners after all. Many thanks!

Hi all.
There are many people who have just the liners replaced with the top hat style and the cylinder heads enginneered to fit them (Local garage does it for around 1800 ish, don't know if this is expensive as i bought engine from RPi) I assume that it is the same Turner Engineering that we read about frequently ? and if it is then they have an excellent reputation.

Hi Eightinavee i never phoned you back as it turns out my cold start was my fuel pump delivering low fuel pressure. All good now.

Cheers, Nick.
