Disco 3 (LR3) Recommendation for code reader

Hi,

I'd like to by a code reader now I'm a Disco 3 owner, just wondered if anyone here has experience on anything other than a hakweye?

GAP IID Tool seems to be the recommendation from those in the know. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

as said the fox well is also another cheaper option

Ok folks thanks for that, I'll read about these today. I assume with things like testing water temperature sensors etc its a multimeter?

As an aside I have a slight cold running issue, the disco starts at say 0c, but will cut out unless I put my foot on the throttle a little and run it for a minute at say 1000 RPM, that's the 1st issues on my list.

The main advantage with the IID tool is joining the D3/4 forum as there isnt a problem they havent seen/fixed and know the IID inside out.
Plus the 2nd hand resale value is very good, at least 75 percent of its new cost, meaning after you sell the D3 the tool is still worth 300 quid so works out top tool on the cheap.
Make sure you get the bluetooth version, free to download app can be used on your phone or tablet.

Hi, ok, I've just bought a FoxHill 510 for just over £110, so I'll give that a go and let you chaps know how it goes. If its naff I'll let you know as well then go get a IID.

may i ask what year is ur D3 plse , u might have a faulty egrs , but once ur code reader turns up it should give u a fault code

plus 1 what @lynall has said about the iid, great bit of kit and will be interesting to see what u think of the foxwell

Hi, its 2005 and the EGR's have been blanked. I'll get some pictures soon.

First port of call is new fuel filter, new meaning quality mann/delphi not britpart/cheapy as can cause issues
