Sorry but mines a pre facelift, though I can understand exactly what you're after & would want the same myself. Try & send Muply a pm as he's done quite a few conversions of early Freelanders to facelift spec & also worked in the salvage game. Although he's sadly moved down from the excellent Freelander back to steam powered Landies he is pleasant & will help out with good advice if he can.

cheers....popped him a PM....

yes mine is a td4 2005 e so facelift but no facotry foggies fitted...

and its dark in'th hills!

FBH, Fuel Burning Heater, fitted behind left side of front bumper so no room for recessed foglight if yours has one.

Chaser....My '04 Sport Premium has a FBH and front fogs.
Presumably they were factory fitted, so it seems as if it is possible to have both.

Hi guys. My '04 Sport has a FBH and front fogs also.

So I'm dreaming of the 'Long Range Driving Lamps' too.
(The black plastic ones you can fit into the facelift freelander vertical black plastic section front bumper and still keep the factory fit foglights).

hey...those long range fellas....do they sit flush inside the bumper....?.....are they bigger than the standard fogs?.....and i gather you men they sit on the grey plasti panel in each side of the grill....

sorry for the Q's ....just intrested....as im not to bothered about them being fogs...just need a lower light boost ....so i can see the rabitts in my headlights!!

Hi Moog, I'm sorry but I don't know exactly but I'll try and answer regarding adding some driving lamps alongside foglamps. This would create 4 lights on the lower bumper in total (if you already have, or wish to add flush fitted fog lights).

RE: Long range lamps for MK1 facelift. Part no.VUB 500870

From the pictures they screw onto the outside of the grey/black plastic vertical panels on the front bumper and don't fit flush, so they are a 'pod' type. Size wise the glass lenses are at least 2x the size of the MK1 facelift fogs.

I've found the fitting instructions below online so hopefully this will help?

All the best.

I have had a set of these lamps for quite a while now, (just not found the time to fit them yet)
They don't just screw to the bumper, you have to cut a shape out of the black plastic part of the bumper (templates included in the kit) with a padsaw or similar and then locate a metal bracket into the cutout which the lamp attaches to.
You also get 2 templates in the kit to help with the positioning. (stops it looking cross-eyed when you've finished)

billy.....you got any pics of what they look like on?....are they bigger than the fogs you can get?.....

as for the cutting hole...(as long as its done propper...)...i gather the kit covers the rim of the hole....if you get me..just want to make sure they look nice...etc...

Thanks to talldavey and Billy-g for the info on fitting issues.

Regarding the photos of the 'pods' Moog, a Landyzone member has them fitted, check the link below. :)

Just to confirm the 'pods' for the MK1 refresh front bumper come in two indentical versions (the pod housing) as complete light unit kits:

1) Driving lamps: VUB 500870
2) Fog lamps: VUB 500960

(They both look identical externally, but house different lamp units).
NB: These aren't the parts for the recessed versions. They are smaller and flush fit.

It's potentially confusing when talking about freelander MK1 refresh foglights. We could be talking about the recessed ones on the Sport Model/HSE etc, or the 'pod' type ones too that are shown here. :p

cheers td4

good find on the pics.....they dont look too bad on.....was thinkin the pods would look awfull on....

anyone know the spec diffs in the fog/driving lamps......as in llighting?....can the drivin lamps take a decent powred halogen?.....are they more powerfull than the foggs?....

im full of questions today,...(well full of summatt)

just dont want to go thru fittin summat to find out i was better strappin a candle to the front!....and want to confuse my neighbours on the next hill that the 'enterprise' is commin in to land!:alien::alien::alien:

Hi Moog. :)

Well, I would imagine the only way to know the spec is for someone to look at the internals (e.g. are they rebranded CIBIE/HELLA internals etc) and spot a model number if possible that corresponds to those makes. If this could be matched up to another brand then we could find out the light span in foot (length and width) and do this for both the LR fogs and long range lamps thus determining the differences between the two LR units.

I've ordered the long range lamps so once I get them I will answer here with any model numbers/model codes if they are rebranded, and not LR actual lights.

Hi,
Iv got the pod style driving lamps fitted to mine, as per my picture. Moog the difference with the pod style fogs and the pod style driving lamps as I far as I can tell is that the driving lamps will only come on when the full beam is used whereas the fogs can be put on with the dipped lights.
The driving lamps are fitted with H1 bulbs and so can be changed for brighter versions of the H1 bulbs, I presume that the pod style fogs are the same with just the wires going to a different switch on the dash.
Hope this helps you, there is also a thread on the forum regarding the fitting of the lights.
