Hi i recently had my car in the garage for a alternator replacement .When collecting it i noticed the rear window was down .i put this back up with the centre control with no problem .When i went to open it it opened fine but ... when trying to close it the window does not drop the 1" it should to clear the plastic trim .The rear wiper doesnt work now either .

Can anyone help ?

Sounds like the rear window isn't calculated correctly, or the drive cable has failed, which normally shows itself after the window drops as the battery is reconnected after work.

thanks for the response .How do i re calibrate the window ?
If the cable is ok, then disconnecting the battery will reset the CCU (responsible for controlling electrical items), dropping the tail door window when the battery is reconnected. To calibrate the window, you turn on the ignition, then operate the window up switch until the window is fully up, holding the switch for 1 second after the window is up.

The problems come when a cable has snapped. The window normally goes down fine, but snaps as the window is being calibrated back up. This then leaves you with a broken cable on a window that is partially open, which I think is the current issue.

So now if the battery is disconnected, the window will simply drop and the cable will wind up around the motor spool, potentially damaging the motor.

For the sake of a few £, I'd get a replacement cable before attempting to calibrate the window again, as I suspect the cable has already failed, but with the window in the up position.
