Hi All,
hope everyone has had a good Festive Season and now on the road to recovery??

Question!!!
Has anyone changed their REAR TAILGATE Window??
Im looking at swapping my rear "Window" from one rear door (As the bottom seal is S%$T) to another! just swapping the glass (and all the other bits and pieces inside the door frame).

Any or all advise greatly taken.

What is wrong exactly? You say the bottom seal is bad but the seal is in the frame on a D1 and the D2, the door has a lot of stress on the hinges from 60lb of spare wheel hanging off it so it does wear the hinges out and they can move over time, you have to set the hinges on the door with the spare removed in order to get a decent seal all the way round, it's a bit of a faff but involves sitting/kneeling in the back checking the compression of the seal all the way round.

If you are dead set on swapping out the rear window then in the door then get a new seal or at the very least a better than you have S/H seal to replace yours and get car glass or national windscreens to do it unless you have a couple of mates round with gentle hands (Freelander drivers?;)) to help fit the new glass.

I will add a pic as soon as i can (i thought i had one already to add to the post), the bottom of the tailgate door has come apart! if it was not for the speakers in the back! i would have been none the wiser of the seam rusted and separating!

I have bought a secondhand door that is rust free around the seam of the door, and prepping ready to fix as soon as a bit warmer, i already have a window seal to add.

so i was wondering if anyone has done it before?

I have replaced side and front windows! but never a back sealed window, lots of advise from friend from "Autoglass" and what not to do and where to be careful!!

Just done the job. Bought a second hand door with glass, and paid a guy from, can't remember the company but it wasn't auto glass to fit it. £50. A 10 minute job, but we'll worth the 50. Only got rid of the door yesterday, still have the seal if you want it. Free if you pay the postage. IF you make a blunder with your seal get back to me, no problem.

That's a bugger, I know that the ally is separating on my front doors from corrosion but I can't do much about it and will be waiting for summer to come so I can grind it back and get it treated.

Picture added:

As you can see! The seam has come away (a 1000 and 1 uses for Gaffer Tape), and it being the area that the speakers are situated! listening to music is a bit Poo!
Im not yet into welding so the cheapest option was to source a door of the same colour (Epson Green). i was hoping to get hold of a complete door with glass! but this did not happen.

so with a doner door! its take from one to add to the other.
