Okay, since replacing the rear floor I'm a bit confused as to how the rear row of seats fitted to the floor. The seat mounts don't line up very well with the corregated/ribbed floor panel - does anyone know whether they are supposed to fit to a crossmember over the top of the floor panel?
Guess I will just bolt the seats through the floor panel but it doesn't seem like a particulary strong way to fit them especially if the disco was to be involved in a collision (touch wood), also as I said they don't seem to line up well with the floor panel..
 
When I sorted the last load of rust issues on mine which included the boot floor and most of the floorpan mine didn't line up with the holes either.....

This was due to the fact that I had gone mental with the welder and filled in every dam hole on the floorpan, so I had no holes what so ever. Doh!

Faced with a similar problem as you, and also thinking that just bolting to the floorpan wasn't very secure in the event of a major collision, I drilled holes in the floorpan to match the seat mountings, then welded in some 3mm plate to strengthen that immediate area.

Seemed an obvious and cheap fix to the problem that I had caused. Just wish that I had bothered to take note of what the original setup was like, instead of doing my usual gung-ho approach.

Strange thing is that the replacement panel hasn't got holes for the seats only the rearbelt mountings. The seat mounts are bent with the front section fixing to the central/downward panel (which still has the holes for fixing) and the back section fitting to rear floor. Will have a butchers tonight and look at welding some plates in, what a PITA

would anyone happen to have a photo of how the seat originally fitted to the boot floor??

Not sure what I can do here as I only wanted to bolt the rear seats down in order to remove them easily when I need to.
The front brackets fit nice and easy after clearing the 4 fixing points with a M6 tap.
Do I need to fix down the rear brackets and if so how??? I'm not even sure they were originally bolted as the holes are very small:

Don't the rear seats hinge on the front brackets so they can be folded forward? Those rectangular "brackets" at the back don't bolt to anything - they should locate in maching recesses in the boot floor. If you have the rubber mat or carpet you should be able to see where. The seats are held in position normally by the catches at the sides of the backs which you would release to fold them forwards.

When a passenger is sitting in the seat, they should also be held in place by the seat-belt.

Let me know if you need me to post pictures of mine - I will have a look tomorrow to make sure I'm not talking out of my arse!

Thanks guys, what a stoopid tw@ - am particularly chuffed with myself for spending a good couple of hours fiddling around to get the passenger side bolted down:

If the rear brackets definitely aren't supposed to be fixed shall remove the bolts and reshape the floor with a big hammer
 
The rear brackets definately aren't supposed to be bolted down so you can fold the seats forward, it's only the brackets at the front that hold them to the floor and the clips at the top that hold them in place when they're up.
