Rear rh oil leak not brakes advice on new part

can i repair a leaking hub on a disco 2 or is it a new hub and then if it is Rimmer bros is only 7 mins away and they doe three hubs TAY100050 a cheap ish one for 120 pounds an OEM for 170 ish and then ive read that is has been replaced for TAY100050G which paddock do for 170 and the old TAY100050 for 90 pounds any advice on past experience.

you cant repair it , ive used the britpart hubs with success but as with all things you stand more chance of been unlucky with the cheaper part

I thought as much ive cleaned it all up ready to change it tomorow had to break off as one it was getting dark and the the twins needed feeding as im helping doing now

No you can't repair it. Annoying really as it's usually just an oil seal between the revolving part of the hub and the main hub. Cost pence to replace if you could take it apart but you cant.

There is an O-ring round the outside of the hub, check that first.

We hold a cheapo pair of front and rear hubs, plus we have a few used ones on the shelf. Not needed any yet!

Ive just bought a new hub at 120 ish a hub nut and an o ring so i will see if its just the o ring and take back the hub if i have too. but i will fit it tonight as ive got a big press at work .

Get some brake disc retaining screws if you can, they strip really easy.

yes thanks for the info about screws i found that out last night had to use big strike through flat blade screwdriver and big lump hammer then an a adjustable to turn it.

I had a rear hub's integral oil seal fail - the resulting grease/EP90 oil mix contaminated the brake disc as it got flung out. The brakes still worked and I noticed soon enough for the problem not to escalate.

Not sure what you need the big press for... you need a beefy torque wrench for the stake nut yes (360 odd lbft). I personally have not had a halfshaft stuck in the hub, but hey, this is Land Rover
