The PTU or the spines between the PTU and gearbox have failed, if that's what the question is?

Thanks Nodge68, the rear prop doesn't turn at all, I know there is a clutch on the rear diff but regardless of any setting on the traction control there is no drive towards the rear from the shaft at all... I've seen a fl2 for sale here with a blown front diff... Is there a theme here? :( it's a good car but wtf?

The FL2 has a similar setup to the FL1, where the propshaft is driven from the PTU all the time. The Haldex (bolted to the front of the rear diff) then engages the rear drive on demand. It's pretty impossible to tell if the propshaft is being reverse driven unless the vehicle is moving in a way that the traction control module sees traction as being lost, so you can't tell simply be moving the vehicle on the drive for instance, it has to be underway.

I can feel my Haldex engagement in pulses when I turn a sharp slow corner, as throttle is applied, the pulses stop as soon as I straighten up, or back off the throttle.
I don't know if this is normal, or my Haldex clutches have been contaminated by the wrong fluid in the past, but I'm planning on changing the fluid again, as the rough engagement can't be good for the rest of the transmission system.

OK, excellent. On the ramp, regardless of the program chosen the rear propshaft does not turn at all... In any circumstance.. There are no warning lights from the abs or esp Ecu's to say there is a plausibility issue.. Has to be a physical problem in this case. I'll unbolt the prop and check for noises. The rear diff does have a strange noise from it and I'm hoping it hasn't blown the rest of the drive....

If it's on the ramp with the wheels hanging free, and the PTU has failed, then nothing will turn, except the front wheels.
The drive goes from the front (PTU) down the propshaft to the rear. If the PTU isn't driving the propshaft, and the rear wheels aren't being driven by the road underneath them, then the propshaft won't turn, regardless of the setting on the TR dial.
;)
