When did the rear tailgate lights change from yellow indicator lenses to clear ones, and are they interchangeable?

I realise that the bulbs will be different. I prefer the clear lense but like the idea of clear bulbs too. Desicions!

I like the clear lenses, looks modern. But mine looks good with orange against the green body. I'm going to paint the wheel nuts yellow and put rainbows on the doors....

With ballast resistance or she'll bleep!! Don't say it too loud about being to modern.. you offend the purists...
I changed all the interior bulbs to LEDs makes it much clearer on the dark evenings inside and the puddle lights as well.
