Hi guys
I am needing some new rear suspension and have some questions as there seem to be a price difference between various outlets, which ones to buy (is it you get what you pay for so the ones @ £100 more expensive are much much better than the rest?
I use it has a daily drive and go green laning so other peoples recommendations are appreciated.
Also looking at changing all the shocks, how much difference will I see between the normal standard type compared with say gas filled ones?

For many years ran my standard 88 on a set of military lightweight rears[fewer leaves],nicer ride on road and more flexible off road, just not so good if you loaded them up [soon on the stops] Do not think there is much difference in performance of shocks with standard leafs as they have some built in friction but if fitting parabolic go gas.

Had a quote @ local garage, for full set of parabolic and with gas shocks all round just under £400. £20 per shock, £135 front and £155 rear plus vat witch is only a little more than standard leafs.
He also said that many people do rear first and when finances avail they do the front, which is what I think I am going to have to do.
Decisions decisions decisions

I think you need to ring them up for a quote. What are you running - I put GB springs on mine and they've been great - though a little hard on the back - I went for the harder option but in a full tilt they're probably a little over-sprung.

I think mine were around £250 for a set but I also ended up buying some deCarbon shocks as standard ones weren't a good match - I found it tended to kick out on speed bumps and make for a rather giddy ride but with slightly stronger shocks it balanced out.

The other option is Rocky Mountain - they come as a full kit with springs, u-bolts (1/2") check straps and shocks - for SWB they come with shackles and pins too. Which saves hunting round for bits but cost a good bit more though probably not much in it.

I can't tell you what the RM ones are like on the road as I've not finished building that one yet - they look good though!

Britpart ones might just be OK for ooh 2 months. I saw some that went flat in a few weeks.

springs (Parabolics) on mine with Procomp (+2" dampers) - fitted about 3 years ago and seem to be a perfect match for my 88" with full canvas tilt. I do carry the spare wheel in the back as can be a bit bouncy with no load in at all (going over speed bumps etc) but just the extra bit of weight from the spare balances it perfect.

I paid £220 for the full set on mine (included U-bolts and deliver), but that was 3 years ago. Customer service was excellent and springs handed to prevent the almost inevitable "lean" from non-handed springs...... I couldn't recommend them highly enough

Looks like gb springs are the ones to choose, just worried that I contact them for a quote and get bombarded by them to buy.
I very rarly have a loaded truck and have spare wheel on bonnet, is this going to be a problem with the rear/drive of the landy?
It's going to be after Xmas now as our lass can't stop buying people presents, think need to loose bank card

You won't get any pressure from GB - if I remember correctly the guy's name is Paul....what he is is extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and relies on the quality of his product to sell....even if you don't buy he will be pleased to discuss what you need and the various options open to you - give it a go (it's how we used to do this in days of old - talking to each other without need for hard selling) :)
