I'm trying to move my Rear Foglight Switch up from my right knee to a centre console on a TD5 110. I've bought an RDX K Switch,

This is a rocker switch, it's either on or off, the existing OEM switch is momentary. Does anybody know of a way to make a rocker act as a momentary using relays etc. or have I to go down a different route? I don't want to go delving into the intestines of the wiring so that would be the simplest solution. Thanks.....

Could you not just buy a momentary switch and change the switch top or legend over? If you got the rear washer one they do and swap the tops over then you could probably use the other one for a rear wiper or something else?

In fact thinking about it are you sure the standard one is momentary, mine clicks over and stays over. Cant really see how a momentary switch would work for a fog light, if it triggers a timer relay then how do you turn it off when you want to?

I did a bit of exploring on the existing switch. Two wires connected. One is an earth feed. Press the switch and it 'pulses' the earth out to a relay I can hear clicking behind the steering wheel. Press it again and the earth 'pulse' switches off the relay.....

Yep, it stays on 'till you press the switch again, which cancels it. Plus when you turn off the ignition it resets the fog light to a 'default' off.....

My rear fog light is a stalk on the column :/
Exactly where they should be on a switch similar to the headlight switch.

To help with OP's question, could you not change the relay to a "standard" relay to work with a normal switch rather than a momentary one?

12 years newer than mine with the switch on the steering column! From the sounds of it it sounds like you either need to get a momentary switch or fit a normal on/off relay for the system to work as it should. If you ares et on using the switch you have for the center console I think the easiest option would be to swap the relay out for a standard one so that it operates when the switch is depressed, and is off if the switch is off.
The other options as mentioned above would be to get a kbx momentary switch and then swap over the face plate/switch rocker to the foglight one and keep the rest of the circuit as standard.

If you dont mind me asking what is wrong with the current one or do you just not like the location?

My switch is damaged so I'm trying to replace it in the general overhaul of things. I thought I might as well get a switch for the console rather than putting it back at my right knee. I've already moved the Hazards 'cause they were in the same place. I think I'll try fit a momentary switch, I don't fancy messing too much with the existing electrics.....
