Hi guys

Three weeks ago I purchased a 89 county 3.9d. There is a small leak coming from where the drive shaft attaches to the rear diff. At some stage the previous owner has tryed to seal the area with some silicone sealant. I had a service done after buying the vehicle where the oil levels where checked and toped up. And the leak has only appeared since the diff was top up. The leak is very miner and I only see the smallest drop of oil appearing and after 1000km the oil level in the diff has not realy changed . Yet I am fusy and was after some advice on what the problem could be and is it a drama to resolve and is it costly.

Best wishes Aaron

hi aaron, hope this info helps, it sounds like its the diff pinion oil seal, if you are doing the job yourself it takes about 1 hour. but also make sure your axle breathers are clear.
good luck, diane
