Hi all.
I know this may have been asked before but i am trying to fit a seat in my 1990 defender i have the side facing seat but not sure how all the brackets go as was given in a box i have guessed but if i hold in position the seat doesnt seem to fold up .
Anyhelp be great thanks

What brackets have you got. A picture of all of them laid out would be useful, to see if you have everything you need. is it a Defender 90?

Hi yes defender 90 . The brackets are attached i have 4 in total 2 on the seat base and 2 on the seat back not sure if you can see much from this photo.
Cheers

Attached to the seat, but not to your landy yet I hope. The black ones, which attach to the backrest of the seat, bolt through the side of the tub. Did you get any bolts and rectangular plated nuts to go with your brackets? Once they are in place the pivot brackets will move further back. You also need tubular steel seat belt mounts which bolt through the wheel arch with spreader plates and to the rear crossmember via another tubular mount. Did you get these? It won't pass an MOT without them if you put the seats in. I'm on holiday and just on my mobile, but will try and sort some pictures. HTH

Thanks for reply unfortunatly all i got is the 4 brackets the 2 seat pieces and a seat belt he said it was all there so im a few bits short by the sounds of it . I hunted through google for ages and couldnt find anything about fitting so have been guess work .

This is the tubular bracket that goes under the wheel arch, bolting to the black tube above and to the rear crossmember. They are like hens teeth to find :(

Yes, being bolted through the aluminium isn't strong enough. The belts have to go go through the tubular framework to the chassis. I had the underneath one galvanised.

Well thanks to you both i can now can sort out my problem . Really happy with all the answers i have got from here been a great help .
Thankyou.
