What a hellish job to do. Not difficult, but quite a process to get to the little bugger!
Here are before and after pix with the old seal and the new seal in place.
Cheers,

Hi
Just changed my rear crankshaft seal as I had to change gearbox so thought best to renew it as it was stripped down.
I replaced it with the same type of seal that came off the dowty type that has a nylon fitting sleeve that came with the seal.
Anyway got it all back together and now it ****es oil out the new seal (that was not leaking with the old one) . Stripped it all back off and removed the seal and cannot see anything wrong with it. Did you have any issue and what type of seal did you use as the replacement?

Rob,
I don't remember exactly which seal I used as I ordered two different ones and chose the one that looked the best. I believe fitted:
Rear Crank Oil Seal - OE Manufacturer
ERR2532G
I think that either the Dowty or the OE one would be fine, but the real issue is whether you greased the edge of the seal where it contacts the crankshaft. The seal needs to go in dry or else it will leak.
I cleaned the surface of the crankshaft thoroughly and really sealed the plate that bolts on over the seal with Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker.
