Hi, my compressor is starting to moan and considering the piston ring repair soon.
Noticed car is now dropping BOTH sides at rear. have changed bags before when one side has dropped but this seems more like a leak to affect both sides.
Noticed a pipe broken off a black plastic "can" just to the rear of compressor unit. it has air pipes in and out but feels very light like there isnt much kit inside it ...does anyone know what the part is ?.
although i cant hear any sudden air loss, i, assuming having a pipe snapped off this part is probably my issue. many thanks..

Hi

iirc, neither of the pipes that go to the airbags actually go into the black canister. I always thought they were exhaust and inlet pipes. Is the pipe that is broken about 6 to 8mm diameter

Cheers

Yes thats it - thanks. i only need the canister as one of the male pipes has snapped off. may remove and try a glue job for now. that must be why its slowly sinking !

I cannot see how that would cause it to sink, the pipes that go into the exhaust inlet silencer canister do not directly go to the airbags.......

Cheers

update - i had to glue one of canister ports which seems to have helped. However, i installed the piston repair ring and it made a worse noise and would pump at all, i then fitted the old ring and its back to noisy but at least pumps.
so im not much forward on this and am now looking at a replacement compressor -
My question is new at over £250 or a used from £50 ? i guess its really pot luck....

I did the piston ring repair early this year and it worked until a few weeks ago when the compressor won't run, so I bought a spring conversion kit and its great not having to worry whether the suspension is working properly. I don't go off-road, our caravan is now sited in Spain and we are going to sell our horse trailer, so springs will be fine. A slight fee from the insurance for the change but feel happier with it now.
