Hi. New to the site - Have a RR Sport 2007 and its just failed MOT on corroded fuel tank support plate.

I have jacked the car up and started undoing the bolts that hold the cradle in place, but after removing a few bolts noticed the fuel tank itself has started to drop. I have stopped work for now to seek advice.....

My question is - does this cradle hold the fuel tank in place too and can the cradle / support plate be removed and replaced with new one without the tank having to come out as well.

Thanks in advance. Andy

Hi and welcome

Sorry couldn’t resist the clue is in the name “ corroded fuel tank support plate.“

Lol

Indeed make sure the tank is fairly empty , be careful as the tank is plastic , u have to support the tank when removing the support plate

Pop ur question over in the Range Rover section as more with see ur post

Ah ha... i guess you could be right and I have probably opened up a thread which makes me look a fool.

How about this as an addition to the original post:

Whats the best way of removing the support plate without taking the fuel tank out? Any links or threads would be very useful? Thanks

Gstuart - i have just seen the bottom of your post after replying. (i hate computers!!) Thanks for the advice and i will also try and post this in a RR section. ta

You'll have lots more room to work under there if you remove the vehicle weight bearing surface......or ground :D

Or even easier just do this so can have plenty of access, lol
