Hi i need help to get my rangie 2.5 Diesel started all the problems started when i took battery off to charge can gain entry into car ok everything unlocking but manually with key need someone i can call to talk through procedures i believe i have code which was written in handbook oh HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Start with car locked. You then need you EKA code. I'm never sure whether it should be 4 or 5 digits. When I got mine I was given five so say the code is 53243, you do 5 key turns to the left, then 3 to the right, 2 to the left and so on. Then you unlock and have a short period to start the car. You'll know it it's worked because all the doorlocks will unlock.

If it doesn't work you will need to find a kindly person with a Synchmate or similar.

G~

EDIT: It seems the initial 5 is not properly part of the EKA code but preps the car for the procedure ............................ I think

If you have hand book, follow the instructions within it to enter the EKA code. Sync is sometimes lost when you disconnect battery in an improper manner. Follow the instructions for battery disconnection to the letter at all times.

can anyone help me with key code entry on a 2000 rangerover have got the right code and when i try putting it in after 3 attempts get locked out for 30 mins

Sorry no pictures can't copy thoughs for some reason but general gist below.

EMERGENCY KEY ACCESS
If the handset is lost or fails to operate, the
engine can be re-mobilised by using the key to
enter a unique four digit emergency key
access code. The code is recorded on the
Security Information card and is entered as
follows:
1. Using the key, turn the
driver’s door lock
(anti-clockwise) to the LOCK
position 4 times and return
the key to the centre position
(as shown) after each turn of the key. It is
now possible to use the key to enter the
separate numerical values of the four digits
that make up the emergency key access code.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
When entering a code:
• ENSURE each key movement is
carried out with care and precision
and turned through the full extent of
its travel.
• After turning the key to either the
lock or unlock positions, make sure
it is FULLY returned to the centre
(vertical) position.
• If you forget your place in the
sequence of key operations and,
therefore, do not complete a code,
open and then shut the door and
start entering the code again (this
will not count as a failed attempt).
2. Enter the FIRST digit of
the code.
If the first digit is 4,
turn the key (clockwise) to the
UNLOCK position 4 times.
Ensure the key is FULLY
returned to the centre position after each turn
of the key.
3. Enter the SECOND digit of
the code.
If the second digit is
3, turn the key to the LOCK
position 3 times. Remember;
the key must be FULLY
returned to the centre position after each turn
of the key.
4. Enter the THIRD digit of
the code.
If the third digit is
2, turn the key to the UNLOCK
position twice, ensuring that
the key is FULLY returned to
the centre position after each turn of the key.
5. Enter the FOURTH digit of
the code.
If the fourth digit is
1, turn the key to the LOCK
position once. Ensure the key
is FULLY returned to the
centre position after the key has been turned.
6. FINALLY, turn the key to
the UNLOCK position once
more to disarm the alarm and
re-mobilise the engine. If the
code has been entered
successfully, the anti-theft alarm indicator
light will extinguish, the doors will unlock and
the engine can be started.

hi there that is exactly what iv tried doing but it doesnt work after 3 attempts it locks out for 30 mins i know i have the right code as have checked it with landrover.

It's a while since I've had to do it but I think that you get an indicator flash at the end on each correct sequence. Are you getting that?

G~

no the only time i get the indicators to flash is each time when i turn the key 4 times acw before putting the code in.

You're right. Only after the first 4 acw. Are all doors unlocking at the end of the process or just the driver's door followed by a beep?

G~

The indicators will only flash as you enter the four left turns. NOT when your inputting the code. Only do it twice if it does not work, open door for three more tries without time out. Always use full sequence on each attempt.

only the drivers door unlocks and after 3 attemps the it goes to lock out again for 30 mins. so im guessing the lock is reading the key movments but for some reason its not disarming it

also i have a bcem sync mate and when i plug that in it just flashes red once saying communication error not sure if its because the alarm is active or there is a fault

I don't know if this will be any good but it might be worth a try

Alternative "Key in Position II" Disarming Procedure

An alternative procedure for getting the system out of disabled mode is to disconnect the battery, and reconnect it with the key in position II. Steve Glover of New Zealand tried this with great success on his 1999 Range Rover Autobiography. "We recently lost the only key that worked by remote on the vehicle. Our second key had stopped working remotely on the vehicle a couple of years ago, our dealership told us it was impossible to fix and we needed to buy a new one. We used this key to try the “key turn method” of EKA but to no avail no matter how it was done it would not disarm the alarm. We then towed the vehicle home with the alarm tooting its head off. We kept trying the key turn method at home but [it had no effect]." Steve offer the following details of how he succeeded with the alternative "key in position II" procedure:

1/ Open the Vehicle manually with the key (the alarm will be going off the whole time) and open the bonnet (it is extremely Important to leave the bonnet and the door open or you may be locked out).

2/ Disconnect the main 12 volt vehicle battery.

3/ Put key in ignition and turn to position II.

4/ Reconnect the Battery.(window unset alarms will be going off)

5/ Start the engine then push the lock and unlock buttons on the key while the engine is running.

6/ Open and close all the windows to reset them.

7/ You are done.

For Steve, the method worked better than expected. It not only reset the alarm and engine immobilizer, it also made the second key work as a remote again! Steve even feels this method might be the first one you try instead of the EKA method.
Mike Coleman reports he tried it on his UK model when he did not have the correct EKA code available, but it did not work for him. However Jimmy Kander reports that he tried it on his 1999 with great success: "I have a 99 black North American Range Rover. The stupid thing wouldnt start saying engine disabled, check remote. The key turning did not work, but disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it with the key in position 2 worked!"

Security and Alarm System Operation & Diagnosis on Range Rover 4.0/4.6/P38A

that didnt work on mine just went strait to lock out with the alarm going off. its so frustrating.

Do you see each turn is accepted, as far as i remember the indicators in the dash will flash every time the key is turned. Easiest seen when dark.
Remember to do it all fairly slow and make sure everything is closed, doors, boot, bonnet...

Also seem to remember that strangly i had to enter code 1515 which is for NAS vehicles before i got mine going.
