Just noticed all of the sudden in my range rover that im struggling t find reverse gear. I try to select and get a grinding/screaching sound.

Also find difficult to put in 1st gear, i.e. haing to releaese clutch pedal and try again with more force thn usual.

any ideas on what could be causing this?

cheers

Sounds like clutch is hanging. Not releasing properly as reverse and first are the lowest gears this gives the largest difference in rotational speed between the main shaft and lay shaft. If the clutch hangs it lets the lay shaft turn, that is why it is making the noises as the dogs rub against each other.

Ok thats great.

Me and my mate are going to have a look at it this afternoon so I'll let you know how we get on.

Cheers
