I have just bought one of these today as I am a mechanic and i need it for basic fault finding, i wanted to try it on my Land Rover Discovery TD5 as we've been having a few issues with it and when I plug it in the OBDII socket and turn on the ignition the scanner tries to find the on board computer but then it comes up saying 'Link Failed' I have tried it on my Renault traffic van and it works no bother it should work with the Disco but i can't get it to work. Does anyone have the same scanner ? if so could you please drop me a line and tell me how to get it working with the Disco?

Cheers

Hmmm, I had my car repaired in one of the Nationwide Auto Centres and they diagnostic equipment wouldn't communicate with my Disco either, I remeber someone telling me afterwards that pretty much only the LR computers with work correctly on LR's, saying that the AA's system will communicate with my Disco but can not real all the fault codes... LR specific ones wont come up with any info for them

I always take mine to the garage my brother works at and his companies SnapOn(?) reader works fine with my Freelander. It cost them £5k though :/
