r380 and lt77

I own a discovery 2 v8 with a r380 in it which no longer works. I have a spare lt77 lying around anyone know if it will fit. I have heard very mixed answers any help would be much appreciated.
 
That's above my knowledge but i remember that a friend of mine did that some time ago and he complained that it was not an easy job.... nor an improvement
 
If you swap the bell housing you will find the main shaft too short.
If you leave the original bell housing on, either engine/gear box will need relocating.
Looks like it’s a new correct box ;)
Probably more likely scrap which is sad because you don’t see many v8 manuals but there is just not much worth saving on it

It could be made to work, but would likely cost a fair bit more than sourcing a correct R380, which shouldn't be that difficult in the UK.
