Which way does the cylinder go over the piston on the air compressor. Just replaced my seal and left with the cylinder in my hand.

Ok. The cylinder piece has two different edges. The edge with no lip faces down into the pump towards the crank and the side with the lip faces upwards so that the lip of the cylinder fits snugly into the O Ring sitiated in the Top that screews down onto the pump that closes everything off. If you get my drift........
