Hi, I am new to the Forum, and would appreciate your help with my 2008 Defender Puma 90.-
All of a suddon it would not start. Check battery and was flat, pretty old, the original one. So replaced with a new one with has been checked. LR will not start. It's dead.
The solenoid of the starter will not make any noise. There is no current reaching the solenoid. Have checked the relays, clened contacts, and swap the, and mnothing.
i believe it went to a security mode, however the remote control works and so does the alarm. Could that be possible?
The problem is that I do not have the EKA code. Tried to get is with the local delear but no success. Do you know of a default EKA code? Heard 1515 is one, but what happens if it isn't, will I remain with out alarm and make more of a mess?
Could it not be this and be the ignition switch? Have checked all fuses?
Appreciate your suggestions

Did you follow the battery disconnect procedure i.e. ignition on, ignition off, disconnect battery within 15-17 seconds (helps to slacken the negative lead first). This disables the alarm. After refitting the battery you need to re-synchronise the key fob. From outside the vehicle press the lock button at least 4 times, this will re-synch and lock the doors. (do both fobs if you have 2). Unlock and go. You will also need to reset the radio code. Then drive the vehicle, the engine management light will come on while driving, after a few miles the management system should have reset itself and the light should not come on at the next start up.
