Hi guys,
A friend of mine is replacing the propshafts on his defender (1991 110 diesel) the replacement parts that he has been sent are too long (longer than the original).
He used the vin plate to order the parts so we are assuming the dealer gave him the correct parts. Also apparently it is all original so nothing else has been changed.
Either way, what he has is too long. A garage here has cut the tube of the rear shaft and fitted it, but the gap between the end of the tube & the hardy spice is around 3-5mm. Is this okay or should it be a larger gap? if so, what sort of size should it be.
Before you ask, he cant go and swap them unfortunatly or buy new ones, so is there a way we can make these longer ones work? if we have to cut them down, what is the best way to do it & how much float/gap should we have?
Thanks guys!
