Planning to do VCU replacement this weekend and went under the car to check the tools needed. Both prop ends use torx E12 & E10. My set is 1/2" and socket doesn't fit properly because of the bulge. Have you used 3/8" sockets for these? Have to go shopping first time in the morning..

You will need a short 3/8 extension too so that your ratchet doesn't foul. Best not to round them with the wrong tools or you'll be under there all day.

Great, going to get those tomorrow. Thanks Andy.
I use deep E Torx sockets for the CV joint end, and standard length E Torx for the diff flange bolts.
The deep E Torx are also required for the FL2 prop flanges too, so my set will still get use.

I've managed it with 'regular' sockets/spanners - but I may have been lucky. Your car looks nice an clean, little corrosion, which is good for a punt with non-torx kit. The nuts are hex, you 'just' need to hold the bolts still.

Got the assembly down easily. Other prop dropped off as soon as the bolt was loosened but the other one gave a good fight...New VCU with bearings and washers now in place. Tomorrow I will put all together back into car. So, this far all good :) Thanks again for help guys.
