Hi,

My TD5 only came with one key, does anyone know how to programme a new key or remote? Ideally, without having to pay megabucks for a Landrover Dealer to do the programming!!!

Yes, I have had this done, as I lost a key!

The dealer (or indie) gets the key cut from a blank (LR or other), but the chip has to be programmed to your car - my indie used his own testbook.

Or there are a few non-LR companies who do it:

PS My local Indie charged me ~£70 for a proper LR key...
Arrrgh!

My local (S London) dealer charged me £141.24 back in 2006.

B*****ds!!!

That's 69.85 for the key, 2.85 for a battery, 47.50 to programme the new fob and reprog the spare, 21.05 vat.

Yeah, the original LR blank key is expensive, I think my indie did the programming job pretty much for free (I give him regular business and he treats me well)...

Lucky you! The cost does include the new fob, which is the bit that breaks. One of mine died and he other is dodgy.

was looking at doing it myself with my nanocom but after going to my local independant he did the lot for £75 (the price i can get the key/fob for) gave him my vin and reg and the key comes ready cut he reprogramed the ecu only there 10 min

Hi,

Many thanks to everyone who responded. As I live near Melbourne in Australia it looks as if I will have to pay the Landrover dealer the $325 to get the second key cut and programmed.

Their (Landrover) security system might be good but boy is it expensive!
