hi every one i am new to this fourm thing so if i have done this wrong just say, any way i went out on sat and got my self a disco 300tid on a m plate. when i got it the guy said the steering was a bit heavy because it had a a burst pipe but he had sorted it, he says it just needed bleeding.
had a look through the manual and blead it as it said, seemed to get a little better, still to heavy though. can any one shead some light on this situation. thanks :(:(

the level is spot on i have blead it, it seemed to get a little better but still to heavy for having power steering, could it be the pump? the pump sounds fine no noise when turning the wheel tho. any sugestions? thanks

First of all, jack it up so BOTH front wheel are off the ground.

With the engine STOPPED you should be able to turn the steering wheel from full lock one side all the way to the other side EASILY WITH ONE FINGER.

If it is stiff, then you need to worry about the swivel bearings, and maybe the steering box and some of the balljoints.

Also, the UJs in the steering column can harden up and make it feel heavy. IF the stering column balljoints are showing brown rust stains near the yokes, they are jiggered.

Systematic checking is the way to find out what the trouble is.

But maybe it's just heavier steering than you are used to?

yeah did that to day the steering was realy light with both front wheels off the ground, also went from lock to lock easy by pushing the wheels. it is taking both hands on the steering wheel to move it. is it looking like it is the pump do you think? all the uj's look clean as well like. thanks
