Power steering pump flush

Whats he best way of flushing my pump?

Tomorrow il be fitting a new steering box and wanted to flush the pump before i connect it up!

I put an old steering box on about 2 months ago from a scrappers (To pass it throught the MOT as the old one was leaking) and it seemed to be more difficult to turn (Much harder than the leaking one!)

Anyway got some money together and decided il sort it properly, hense wanting to flush the pump.

Just run clean fluid via the reservoir through the pump with the pipes to the steering box disconnected until it runs clear. Just be aware of how much fluid the steering pump will move when it is running. You will need to run the engine to turn the pump fast enough to flush it through. If you are careful it wont be too messy but expect to waste a couple of litres of fluid. Dont run the pump for too long like this and dont let it run dry.

Got it all fitted today! Its great having "proper" steering again! Instead of making doo with half-power steering!
