Freelander 2 (LR2) power steering fluid type

Hi, I have a 2013 Freelander 2 and the power steering fluid needs topping up. The drivers's hand book says use Pentosin CHF202 and I have bought this spec. fluid at Halfords. It is green in colour.

On opening the fluid reservoir cap, the oil is a light brown colour, definitely not green. Is it likely that the oil in the car is the correct type and I can safely top up with the new oil? Thanks.

I use Granville chf its green haven't had any problems topping up freelanders

if your fluid is brown in the car it needs a fluid change

Many thanks td5driver. To be honest, the fluid in the car is more clear than brown, but point taken about changing it.

That is the same as auto box stuff

Definitely not reddish. Having syringed out the reservoir, there is a green tinge to the tan (!), so happy that the car has the correct stuff in it and I've added the correct spec.
