power problems help plz

hi guys
T reg 3 door 1.8 petrol freelander

had car since feb had some issues when i 1st got it with cooling system had not been bleed rite(hg replaced b4 bought) all sorted done 10,000 miles since now on 89,500 miles and yesterday while driveing home from work doing about 65mph on m4 for no reason i lost power pulled on to side it never cut out just ticked over as norm when to pull back off it moved but major lack of power so stopped turned it off gave it like 5mins then tryed again this time all ok off i went 5miles down the rd same again this time i turned it off and restarted it stright away all ok this went on all the way to a m8s hse who has run and worked in garages for over 40yrs tried to link to his 2 diff diagnostic readers both would not link for some reason and car was for the next 2 hr working fine (sod law) will be spend weekend trying to find out whats happening but would love ur thoughts Thanks keiron
 
Hi Keiron

you really need to get the error codes from the ECU to help find the problem - and yes i saw that your mates readers wouldnt work.....

apart from that just search through the forum

mines a diesel :) suffers the same problems as our BMW's so easy to diagnose

Just to ask what the problem was with yours?as mines also got the same engine,and now and again seems to have like a lul where it sticks at 40 or 50mph then picks up again?
