Hey Folks,

Advice required, was driving up quite a steep slope today and had to pull over to let a Fiat 500 through, went to take off again and the car struggled hell of a lot.

Managed to get the car up the slope but a bad smell of clutch due to lack of power, now when i was overtsking the Rev counter was around 3,000 rpm and the Speedo took a while to catch up , onl;y started to play up today.

I did fill up at Tesco last night but not sure if that could be the cause , any help or advice be appreciated.

Its a 2004 Diesel . ;)

Sounds like the clutch has gone, what ever diesel you put in won't have been a factor.

Either that or the engine was struggling and you're use of the clutch on the hill to compensate has killed the clutch.

The clutch pedal for a few monmths has been a bit spongy , when changfing gear it comes back up but needs about a 1/2" lift wuiith the foot under the pedal to bring it into position , now i advised told to change the Master Slave Cylinder ?

If the vehicle has to catch up with the engine, then the clutch is slipping. What sort of miles are on the vehicle? The TD4 clutch generally has a life of 70 to 90K miles, or less if it's done some towing.

Morning Folks,

The hippo goes in on Monday to get a New Clutch Master Cylinder , Slave & Clutch ,fingers crossed it goes smoothly and I’m back on the road asap.

Question I have is would I need to replace the Transfer & Gear Box Oil & if so how much would I need & what brand and grade to go for ? Reason I’m asking is I would rather supply the garage with oil than be charged double

Its a 2004 Manual with 85K on the clock
