pothole problems p38 diesel

:confused: sometimes when i hit a pothole of something to cause a jolt i loose all power for a split second speedo /rev counter go dash lights come on abs fault appears. everything mentioned lasts only for one second and its fine again afterwards just happened 5 min ago hasnt happened in weeks before that
 
Check your battery connections, they could be a little on the loose side or the plug on the back of the altenator. Thats all I can really think of.
I'm sure some of the senior members on here may also have some more ideas of what could be causung this.
 
Before you start put your key and your EKA code somewhere safe OUTSIDE the car.

Check your fuse box, the connectors under it and the printed circuit board. Don't just look for loose connections but for overheating anywhere.

Check earth links from engine to body, in fact basically all earth links, the P38 lives and dies on these. Don't just trust what you see at the ends, if they're insulated try to flex them and feel for crunching that might mean corrosion inside. If in any doubt, for the cost of them, replace them or even run a second one alongside.

Check your BECM connections, again look for corrosion and discolouration inside plugs and sockets. BUT before you start attacking anything with a wire brush, file otr anything that might short across connections, disconnect the battery.
