Anyone travelling to France in the next few days, be aware that the farmers are blockading some refineries so there could be fuel shortages in the offing.

True socialism in an Agrarian economy of course.
Doesn't work for us, so FCUK everyone else...we need our EU subsidies because we are inefficient peasant-farmers.
The CAP was the making of the French Farming community and the ruination of the rest it has been said. Some may disagree.

New Zealand has successfully done away with subsidies. My farming friend is very happy with the £20k a year he gets for doing sweet FA.

Potentially all of France but it is a developing situation, no shortages yet.
Lots of serious flooding in South West France to be aware of though, naturally not reported by the BBC.

Thanks. We're over in Brittany next week with Landrovers & classic cars.
Hope it does not affect us.
    Keep us informed
    Thanks

Morlaix & Salles sur Bearne badly affected by flooding plus surrounding areas.
Might be a good idea to do an internet search for your destination.

Morlaix will be OK for petrol if not still under water.

You have to give credit where due, at least when there's a grievance they go at it with real commitment, unlike the UK where it's a case of 'we're not happy so we are going on strike for a couple of hours' or maybe even a whole shift.
I was over there 20 years ago & the farmers were blocking the roads with burning straw bales, whilst the gendarmerie looked the other way ;)

Don't think they can intervene in protests, dates back to the Revolution. Try that in this country and the Miners strike springs to mind.

The Gendarmes generally only intervene if things get out of hand with damage to property or violence.

Is that when they call in the CRS or the Gendarmes Mobile?
