hi guys im new and really didnt want my forst post to be a problem but needs must im afraid......

i have recently had a new front axle and air socks replaced on my p38, all seemed to be running fine untill after a long trip on motorways and A-roads i got out to hear a quite powerful hissing noise that lasted for about a minute and a half. At first i thought it was a puncture but checked the tyres and they were fine, so i concluded it must have been the suspension releasing pressure. However when i got back in the suspension light on the dash had stayed on and the suspension position indicator lights were all on ( the ones at the top of the centre console near the hazards button ). This has been the case for the last 3 hours or so but i have driven it again and no de-compression noise this time??

sorry for the essay lol but before i go to the garage i thought id arm myself with a few facts first, regards, jono

Sounds like your suspension has gone into soft fault mode.

I assume you have an EAS Fault message on your dash? Mind you when I broke an airbag I didn't get a message.

You must have a leak - is the front suspension on it's bumpstops?

If your airbags are new, it's probably the airline going into one of them that isn't sealed properly. If it's leaking loudly enough to hear then you ought to be able to identify which one is leaking - should be able to see them from inside the bonnet.

Mind you, my airbags were new and the base of one of the rears shattered so it could be the airbag itself.

cheers for the reply mate, the sound was coming from the back in the middle, i have spoke to a friend who is an enthusiast and he said it was probably just the bags de-compressing but it could have let too much or not enough from the new ones and this has caused the suspension to go into safe mode??? it does say eas fault and as im typing this the back passengers side had dropped on its arse in front of my eyes :( take it there is a leak then . forgot to mention the rear air socks were replaced aswell.

righteo off to the garage it is then will it be safe to drive as it is?? it looks as if theres absolutely no resistance in the back quarter at all but the garage is only about 2 or 3 miles away, what do you reckon??
cheers
