Hi the power steering is playing up on my 200tdi the other day it was getting stiff on and off when you turn the wheel so i topped up the fluid and after about 5 miles all was fine. now about a week later im back to where i started except this time there is plenty of fluid in it. when you turn from lock to lock it stiffens up and losens off about 4 times. does this sonud like the power steering pump on its way out or maybe the box? thanks in advance

Does it squeal?

How much did you ' top ' up?

If you look into your engine bay and downwards looking at the front diff, is it covered in oil at all ( fresh looking )

Any other oil deposits not normally seen around the underside of the Landy?

try undoing the bleed valve on power steering box. with your engine off move your steering from side to side this hopefully this will bleed out any air.

thanks for the help i have just tried to blead the steering box and it still feels the same. there is a small leak that seems to be coming from one of the pipes that go to the top of the steering box. i think i will have another go at bleading it tomorrow! it does seem to feel like air in it

they should self bleed ,check steering shafts joints can sieze also input shaft in pas box has inner and outer shaft ,the difference between thes shafts as outer is turned is your power steering, outside also turns box manually they can wear loosing power steering intermittenly
