I posted earlier regarding water pooling in the nsf footwell, believing (wrongly) at the time that it was possibly an 'o' ring/matrix problem. It is clear now that it is simply a leak issue.

Today I removed the n/s pollen filter to find it soaking wet and completely clogged, not only with fine particles but with leaves, the same with the cavity inside the filter housing. I've ordered new filters and cleaned out the cavity as best I can but then noticed that the actual air intake vent is missing the lining of mesh gauze, or rather it is still there but has come away the entire length and obviously allows the leaves and any old trash to get sucked in. Two questions -

1) Has anyone replaced the gauze/fabricated their own

2) how far down (and where to) does the duct from the polled filter go down as I bet the thing is clogged with crap for the entire length

Cheers

Ebay for a fiver or so for gauze. Bit of a job to fit though, not difficult just a ball ache.

Found some plastic stuff that's supposed to be used to keep leaves out of gutters. I unscrewed the bottom of the plastic shroud and shoved like sh~t untuil at least the openings is covered and should prevent larger debris.

All i need to do now is excavate down from the pollen filter, presumably to just ahead of the n/s blower and remove several years of cack that must be down there.

Still not sure how the water is still a problem? Any ideas?

Two answers for you.

Firstly fitting the plastic gauze across the front isn't that bad, and after all how often are you going to do it? Once every ten years?

Secondly have you thought of using an open airline to do the cleaning out?
Shove it where you can then give a quick blast. A bit of an investigate then go again.

I got some thin black foam from packaging, cut it to shape and clipped it in. Seems to be doing a reasonable job even if it was only a temporary measure.......

Biggest problem is holding the foam plenum filter in place with those ridiculous rods. Get a piece of chicken mesh and sandwich it in place between the rods and the foam, this should support the foam and stop it from wandering.
You are right...the fitting of the foam is easy, it's the removal of all the stuff to get at it is a pain in the arse.
