Please Help - Girlie being taken for a ride?

Hi, Please please could I have some advice. My 96 110 - love of my life is about to fail its MOT- I have been quoted by a landy repair garage £700 to £800 for welding in a new rear cross member. Does this seem like I am being taken for a ride???

go to a little back street garage if you can get a recomendation for them and their work

a noo rear crossmember is about £70 from Paddocks - how many hours is it to replace?

Whereabouts are ya?
My local Independent specialist does rear cross-members for £300.

Yep their taking the ****, that's more than double than a local welder to me charges. Where you located?

With the right tools and assuming ya don't have to fook about with the bolts (most of mine Snapped anyway) I took about 8 hrs or so. on me drive not rushing and I took the whole tub off to make it easier to get at.
