Hi All I have a 99 P38 diesel which has EGR and a silver metal inlet manifold. When trying to order inlet manifold gaskets parts using the VIN number Microcat says to order O rings for the plastic inlet manifold. Who has a plastic manifold?

Everybody has a plastic inlet manifold. I have never seen a metal one. Are you sure it's metal maybe someone sprayed it with silver paint.

No it is a silver metal one with egr. Build date 1 /99
Never seen a meta
l one on a late P38 that still had its original engine. Any chance you'd post a picture of your engine bay?

I'm stripping a 98 with a metal one right now but its had an engine put in. I've also got a 98 and 99My dse's outside the door, both with EGR, both with Plastic inlet manifolds.

There's a couple of give aways. Does the engine have a metal or plastic oil filter housing? If its metal then your car has had an engine. If it doesn't have a metal one, check under the front of the manifold where the inlet air temperature sensor would have been on pre EGR models to see if it has been blanked off or if the sensor is there with no wire attached. If that is the case then maybe the manifold has just been replaced.

It has a sensor left in place!
