I am looking to buy a 1967 series 2 short wheel base would not using it every day
just occasionally and doing a bit of green laning locally
which di you think would be better petrol or diesal

'it depends'

Mostly on whether you like the speed of a petrol engine or the torque of a diesel .... Mind you, don't be put off, BUT ....

When I say 'speed' I mean petrol engines had some slight acceleration that might, with an aggressive change between 1st and 2nd, ruffle a chaps quiff, and get to the heady speeds of, but not much beyond, 55 - 60. I doubt age and mileage on an engine would have improved on that acceleration.

Torque of a diesel means Acceleration that wouldn't frighten a poorly sloth, I mean positively glacial, with probably a lower top speed ... And that would be on a good day, driving downhill with a following wind. Mind you, they would pull caravans at maybe 45 mph on the M1 when pushed, given a run up while catching the drafts from passing juggernauts. They wouldn't keep it up uphill ...

Your choice ... ;)
