I've just dropped in a 2litre turbo diesel unit from a Montego, using the following configuration:

Home made conversion plate using Sherpa backplate and M10 bolts
Sherpa Starter
Sherpa Flywheel

The vehicle is still a few weekends' work away from running, and I'm going bananas thinking of all the things which I may have botched up. Firstly, the offset between engine block and bellhousing is 54mm. This is significantly less than that recommended on a certain website I visited, but seemed to fit a lot better this way. Secondly, I have used the original thrust bearing from the 2a gearbox. The clutch is half Land Rover, half Sherpa. Will it work? (I am yet to re-connect the props and clutch slave cylinder. If anyone could set my mind at ease, I would be very grateful.

Assuming 'box is in, after all that work you may as well just start it and see (w/o attaching propshafts).
Flywheel bolts Loctited (always helps)?flywheel straight &not at an angle? Change all oils and filters.New engine/'box rubber mounts (while you're there). Speedo reattached? Check/ adjust handbrake while p/s off. Check u/j's inPropshafts while they're off. Use increased space under vehicle to clean underside while they're off. Others will probably have better suggestions too...
