My 300 TDi has the dash covering on the passenger side curling-up, off the the car. It's the stuff next to the air vents under the windscreen; it is unpeeling rapidly toward the centre of the dashboard.

The lip seems to be stopping me from a simple glue job or is it just a case of contact adhesive and brute force?

Anything I ought to know about the type of glue? ie do some types disolve the cover or are there special types that resist the temperature extremes of a green house on wheels? (that LR obviously failed to use :) )

As ever, any advice is gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance,
Tana.

Hi well just for your info which i thought was good was that a company in somerset ot the contract for laminating the dashes on and it was approved by landrover, the company then went on to make the dashes with an inferior glue that was not approved but was cheaper,by the time landrover found out it was to late the company has gone bust now not sure if landrover sued them or not,so dont go blaming landrover,i have seen some fixings you can buy on ebay and other magazines its a plastic trim you can screw on to the top of the dash that is the perfect shape hope this helps tiga.

Cheers, Tiga.

Okay, not Landrover employees making the mistake on the glue, but of judgement instead.

I will investigate the dash trim; any direct links out there?

Well at the end of the day all companies farm out contracts to buisnesses thats how everybody stays in buisness, its a shame banks have there telephone answering services in foreign countries that no nothing about you and you cant understand good luck with your finding your bits, tiga

just wondered as ne one every glued there dashdown with ne glue or fixitive as it would be a cheaper alternative thanks

I glued my disco dash down a couple of years ago & its still holding, altho` it was a bitch to keep it down while the glue was drying.(wood props up to top of screen left overnight) I found a glue called HAFIXS. Expensive i.e. approx £10 for 20grms,but damn good. Try www.hafixs.co.uk mucky`un.

I have tried gluing it, even taking advantage of doing it when the screen was out to replace it, the glue does not hold. I got a dash repair kit from devon 4X4 and it was great, it took a couple of hours fiddling to get the screws in and was well worth the effort as it looked great after

1x8 possie drives with cup washers!! The glue held for a while..Then the dash delaminated, which was nice...thought sod it and screwed it down!

Till cash is abundant for a re-fit..i'm happy.:)

For the record..I was informed the issue was a re-call job, and LR would fit a new dash for free..but only for the origonal owner..and the service expired ages ago.:(
