Hi there, need some ideas please.

ive a 2007 Defender Puma 60k miles. A1 condition, ex. Crown property so amazingly maintained and cared for.

The red dash brake light started to flicker and giving the handbrake a good tug seemed to make the light behave. I did check the fluid immediately and it was fine. I assumed I had a dicky handbrake switch, I guess I might still have that. Where is it?

Ideas please! Anyone had the same thing happen?

I’ll change the master cylinder next weekend, it’s only an hours job.

If you have no fluid loss, are the flexible hoses bulging when the brakes are applied? Some (hopefully) useful info attached.

Sorted this. The pedal was the master cylinder. The red light was the level had dropped and the new float switch got a bit stuck, gave it a flick and all was ok. Interesting but it now seems to move freely.

master cylinder is an easy 20 minute job and you can bleed the brakes from under the car.
