Hi Guys,
Well after some 1000 odd trouble free motoring, we now have another issue
The power steering has always had "red" fluid in it since i brought it and has always leaked a bit,
the leak is getting worse now and something on the steering is making a whinning type noise that seems to change tone pending on what the rev are doing .
also if your sat with the engine running and go from lock to lock you can hearthe same noise.

So i guess the "RED" fluid has eating some of the seals, but is it the steering pump or rack or both???

any idea of what either part costs?

Cheers Neil

Whining certainly sounds like pas pump, but it could also be a hose issues restricting the oil to the pump?

Hi, I recently got an OEM pas pump from Dan @ Duckworths for £120. When the engine is running is there evidence of good circulation in the fluid resevoir?
Griff

Yes, the fluid is moving around thanks
So my mate got it up on the ramp today, after cleaning and running no leaks whatsoever.
But as soon as the engine is off this starts......
So I guess it's a new pump, any other recommendations??

I do see your points, is it worth getting 2 new hoses, even though they don't appear to leak. I just don't want my mate to take it all apart and then have to do the same again as a hose is leaking
I have already got a new pas pump and water pump, and the proper fluid
