Hi guys, hope somebody can help!
Had part of the dash out today to try and sort the earth problem I have with my wipers sweeping on main beam/flash. I couldn't find the earth distro I was looking for so I replaced everything as it was before and then did a final check. Much to my dismay I noticed that I only had one front sidelight working and no rear lights at all apart from brake and indicator. All headlights work fine but naff all on the rear so now can't even drive it until day light. I didn't do a thing to anything so am completely confused. Would make more sense if I didn't have the 'odd' sidelight working on its own.
Help!

Many thanks

Check loom has not eaten through as it enters and exits chassis, also behind rubber flaps behind lights.

Check the wiring, especially the earth, around the front light that doesn't work - I had a similar problem that ended up being the earth attached to the inner wing.

Do your indicators work ok? this is often the result of the earth attached to the bulkhead failing.

Good luck with the most fustrating job ever.......

Thanks guys, yes all indicators work fine as do the stop part of the stop and tails. The thing that's thrown me is the fact that one side light (f o/s) still works. They were all absolutely fine before I took the dash apart and I had recently fitted new lights all round due to corroded earths. Weird or what? :-(

Nah, not really weird... if ye've checked everything that ye can see, chances are that the loom might've rubbed through somewhere along the inside of the chassis.
Had this on mines a whiles back and didn't really discover it until ah was swapping rear looms over. Ye've got to remember that inside the chassis are strengtheners goin' from each side inside the chassis and that the loom is possibly going over or under them... easy to rub against through vibration etc.
Just a thought;):D

Cheers fella, I'll check it over but it doesn't make sense that it worked fine until I took the dash apart and the vehicle hasn't even moved an inch and it's stopped working. I would have thought that if the loom had worn through on the chassis it wouldn't have just stopped working through taking the dash apart.
Just a thought. Guess I'll be taking the dash apart again tomorrow too and checking it along the way!
All the best.
Andy.

Thanks guys, fixed now and it was just a simple fuse! I thought I'd checked both 7.5a fuses but I think in my annoyance and eagerness to get it sorted before dark I may have checked the same one twice! Sorry for wasting your time.
Happy new year,
Andy.
